Condition standards on Foresum

Every item sold on Foresum meets a strict condition threshold. Here is exactly what that means \u2014 and what we will not accept.

Foresum is not a used gear marketplace. We verify every item that passes through our warehouse, and our condition standards exist to ensure buyers receive gear they can trust \u2014 fully.

All putters, shoes, and apparel sold on Foresum must be brand new. Headcovers have two accepted conditions: factory sealed new, or new out of bag (NOOB). All four categories are described in full below.

Putters

New — the only accepted condition

Putters must be brand new. No exceptions. There is no “lightly used” tier on Foresum.

New

Brand new — ungamed, no wear, no damage

The only condition accepted for putters on Foresum

Putters only

A new putter has never been hit, gripped during play, or used on a course. It has no marks, no wear, and no evidence of any contact with a ball, green, or bag. If a putter has been gamed — even once — it does not meet Foresum’s standard.

  • Never played or gamed — zero rounds, zero practice strokes
  • No ball marks, face wear, sole scratches, or shaft scuffs
  • Grip in original, unworn condition — no compression marks or oils from use
  • All original labels, tags, and manufacturer markings intact where applicable
  • May have been handled or displayed — but never swung, putted, or put into play

Not accepted

  • Any putter that has been used in play — even a single round or practice session
  • Impact marks, face wear, micro-abrasions, or polish from use on any surface
  • Dings, scratches, or marks from bag contact, travel, or storage damage
  • Grip replaced, re-gripped, or showing any compression wear from repeated handling
  • Shafts with bag rattle marks or tip wear from iron/wedge contact

If a putter has been gamed, it does not qualify for Foresum — regardless of how minimal the wear. There is no exception to this rule.

Headcovers

Two accepted conditions

Headcovers are the only category on Foresum with more than one accepted condition tier.

New — Factory Sealed

Unopened, in original packaging

The strictest tier for headcovers

Headcovers

A factory sealed headcover has never been opened. Original tags, ties, tissue, and any manufacturer packaging are present and undisturbed. The headcover has not been placed on a club head under any circumstances.

  • Sealed in original retail packaging — bag, box, or tie — completely intact
  • All tags, labels, and manufacturer markings present and undamaged
  • Never been placed on, fitted to, or removed from a club head
NOOB — New Out of Bag

Opened, handled — but never worn on a club

The standard new condition for most headcovers on Foresum

Headcovers

A NOOB headcover has been removed from its original packaging and may have been handled or examined — but it has never been placed on a club head, putter, or any golf equipment. There are no signs of fitting, no interior wear, and no compression marks from contact with a hosel or club neck.

This mirrors the standard used in premium sneaker markets for “tried on but not worn.” The headcover has been taken out of the bag. It has not been put to use.

  • May have been removed from packaging and handled or examined
  • Interior lining clean — no compression marks, no hosel contact residue
  • Exterior materials pristine — no stretching, pilling, matting, or soiling
  • Magnetic closures, snaps, or drawstrings functioning as designed with no wear
  • Embroidery, patches, and graphics fully intact with no fraying or fading

Not accepted under NOOB

  • Any sign of fitting — hosel marks, compression rings, or interior scuffing from club contact
  • Exterior wear from sitting in a golf bag — dirt, grass, or contact marks from other clubs
  • Interior lining stretched, stained, or deformed from club head insertion
  • Closure hardware damaged, bent, or showing repeated-use wear
  • Odors, staining, or any evidence the headcover has been used on a course or in play

Our verification team will inspect the interior of every headcover. A single contact mark from a hosel is grounds for rejection — even if the exterior looks perfect.

Shoes

New — the only accepted condition

Golf shoes must be brand new, unworn, and in original manufacturer packaging.

New

Brand new — unworn, original packaging

The only condition accepted for shoes on Foresum

Shoes only

A new shoe has never been worn on a course, driving range, practice green, or any other surface. The outsoles are clean and unmarked, the uppers show no creasing from foot flex, and the insoles retain their original shape. Try-on is not an exemption — shoes that have been worn to check fit and returned do not qualify.

  • Original box, lid, tissue, and any manufacturer inserts present
  • Both shoes included — pair must be complete and matching
  • Outsoles clean — no dirt, grass staining, spike wear, or ground contact marks
  • Uppers without creasing, pressure marks, or flex lines from foot movement
  • Insoles flat, uncompressed, and free of foot impression or sweat staining
  • Laces, BOA closures, or fastening systems in original, unaltered condition
  • All hang tags, size labels, and manufacturer stickers intact and undisturbed

Not accepted

  • Any shoe that has been worn — including try-on, indoor use, or testing on a mat
  • Outsoles with any dirt, scuffing, spike compression, or surface contact marks
  • Uppers with toe-box creasing, heel compression, or eyelets deformed from lacing
  • Insoles with foot impression, moisture marks, or any sign of weight-bearing use
  • Missing box, lid, or original packaging — box must be presentable, not crushed or taped over
  • Odors, cleaning product residue, or any evidence the shoes have been worn or treated

The outsole is the primary inspection point for shoes. Any ground contact — even a single step indoors — is visible under inspection and results in rejection.

Apparel

New — the only accepted condition

Golf apparel must be brand new, unworn, and unwashed, with all original tags attached.

New

Brand new — unworn, unwashed, tags on

The only condition accepted for apparel on Foresum

Apparel only

New apparel has never been worn on a course, in a round, or during any activity. It has not been washed, altered, or treated. All hang tags, swing tags, and size labels are attached as received from the manufacturer. Trying on a piece and returning it does not make it new — worn means worn.

  • All hang tags, swing tags, and size/care labels present and attached
  • Fabric clean — no staining, pilling, snags, or wash-related fading
  • No odor — deodorant, fragrance, sweat, or laundering agents are all grounds for rejection
  • Embroidery, screen printing, and heat transfers fully intact with no cracking or peeling
  • Zippers, buttons, snaps, and closures fully functioning and in original condition
  • No alterations — hems, sleeves, and fit must be original to the manufacturer’s spec
  • Original poly bag or branded packaging included where it was part of the retail product

Not accepted

  • Any piece that has been worn — including once, or to try for fit
  • Washed, dry-cleaned, or treated with any product — original fabric finish must be intact
  • Tags removed or cut — missing tags are not reattachable and cannot be overlooked
  • Staining of any kind — collar discoloration, underarm marks, grass, or sun care products
  • Pilling, fabric bobbling, or surface wear consistent with laundering or repeated folding
  • Alterations of any kind — tailoring, hemming, or modifications to the original cut
  • Any detectable scent — odor is inspected at the warehouse and is an automatic rejection

Tags are not optional. A piece without its original tags is not new — it is worn. Reattaching removed tags does not change this determination.

Verification

How we check condition

Every item is physically inspected at the Foresum warehouse before it ships to a buyer.

Putters

Face, sole, shaft, grip, and hosel inspected against new condition spec. Any evidence of play results in immediate rejection.

Headcovers

Exterior materials, interior lining, closure hardware, and embellishments checked for fitting marks, wear, or use.

Shoes

Outsoles, uppers, insoles, and box examined. Any ground contact, foot impression, or packaging damage fails inspection.

Apparel

Fabric, tags, stitching, and closures inspected. Odor testing is part of every apparel check — no exceptions.

What happens when an item fails

If an item fails verification, the transaction is voided immediately. The buyer receives a full refund. The item is returned to the seller. No payout is released. This is how Foresum maintains a standard the secondary market has never had \u2014 if it does not meet the bar, it does not ship.

Sellers who list items that fail verification will have the outcome recorded on their seller account. Repeated failures may result in suspension from the platform. List honestly \u2014 Foresum\u2019s verification team will find it.
